Chinese Culture Week 2026: Inheriting Intangible Cultural Heritage
Date: 13/02/2026
To promote Chinese culture and align with the theme of "Intangible Cultural Heritage" (ICH) and National Security Education, the Chinese Department collaborated with various subject to host the "Hua Yun Liu Fang" Chinese Culture Week from February 2 to 13.
This cross-disciplinary event allowed students to experience culture through movement and craftsmanship. With the support of the PE Department, Form 1 students participated in the energetic "Pixiu Dance," experiencing traditional martial arts movements. In collaboration with the HE Department, students in Class 3M joined the "Flower Button Workshop," while Form 1 students participated in the "Mini Flower Plaque Workshop," learning delicate structural arts from heritage masters. On February 13, the Music Department organized an appreciation session for Form 4 students, showcasing various traditional Chinese instruments and repertoires to cultivate their interest in classical melodies.
The cultural atmosphere extended to the "Hua Yun Liu Fang Carnival," a collaboration with the D&T and Putonghua Departments. The booths featured diverse activities, such as "ICH Rubbing and Pitch-pot (Touhu) Games," where students practiced ancient printing techniques and traditional etiquette. The "Spatial Magic: Lu Ban Lock Exploration" booth allowed students to deconstruct mortise-and-tenon (Sunmao) structures, while the "Traditional Chinese Medicine & ICH Quiz Wheel" challenged their cultural knowledge in a fun, interactive way.
Highlights also included the "Mobile ICH Bus", which allowed students to interact with ICH exhibits at zero distance during recess. Additionally, Form 5 students enjoyed the magnificent "Chiu Chow Yingge" performance in the hall, where they experienced unique dance moves and face painting firsthand. To conclude, the Chinese Culture Week successfully helped students appreciate their heritage and strengthened their sense of national identity.
