Civic Voices Speech Activity

Date: 04/05/2026

The Chinese Language Department participated in the “Civic Voices Speech Activity” organised by the Language Learning Support Section of the Education Bureau on 4 May. The event aimed to enhance students’ public speaking skills, confidence, and language expression, while fostering civic awareness, cultural literacy, and a strong sense of national identity.

The activity encouraged students to convey positive messages in biliterate and trilingual communication, and to explore social, cultural, and national security issues from multiple perspectives. Our Secondary 3 students Yeung Chung-hei (3S) and Ku Lap-yeung (3E) represented the school and delivered speeches titled “Xuelong 2: When Intangible Cultural Heritage Becomes the Invisible Gene of Polar Scientific Research” and “The Relationship Between Hong Kong’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, Civic Qualities, and Cultural Security”. Their presentations demonstrated strong organisation, cultural insight, and critical thinking.

Through this language exchange activity, students broadened their horizons, deepened their understanding of cultural inheritance, identity, and social responsibility, and further strengthened their public speaking abilities.
