Making Good Use of Innovative Technology to Promote e-Learning

Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, JP, Secretary for Education, visited Yuen Long Merchants Association Secondary School to learn how the school effectively utilizes innovative technology to promote e-learning, enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning, and encourage students’ self-directed learning.

Dr. Choi appreciates the school’s integration of innovative technology with interdisciplinary curricula to promote values education. The school’s Service Learning and Values Education subjects embody the spirit of “AI for Good,” using AI technology to improve well-being. Students shared how their innovative inventions help the elderly solve everyday problems, and they also designed a virtual palace in the metaverse to highlight the importance of protecting cultural heritage, deriving satisfaction and a sense of achievement from their efforts.

During the observation session, the teacher used artificial intelligence technology as a starting point to explain the importance of information literacy and national security to the students, which was impressive.

Additionally, Dr. Choi experienced the Future Library's AI Reading Assistant, metaverse, and virtual reality technologies, learning how the school uses technology to provide an immersive reading experience that enhances students’ reading literacy and interest.
