Outstanding Debut at Hong Kong's Elite Cup Debate Championship 2026

We are delighted to share that 5M Lam Yui Yi and 5M Su Chit delivered an outstanding performance at The 2nd Elite Cup: Hong Kong Secondary School British Parliamentary Debate Championship 2026 (ECBP 2026), held on 28 and 29 March 2026. 

The British Parliamentary (BP) format is a challenging four-team, eight-person debate structure that simulates legislative debate. Remarkably, this was the first time both students had ever taken part in a debate competition, making their achievement all the more impressive. 

Throughout the competition, they claimed First Place on the motion "This House Believes That it is in the interest of the United States to pursue a renewed nuclear deal with Iran rather than intensifying sanctions," defeating Carmel Pak U Secondary School and Diocesan Boys' School. They followed this with another First Place win on the motion "This House Regrets the rise of pop psychology," against Heep Yunn School and Carmel Pak U Secondary School. The team went on to break as one of the top 7 teams in the competition, advancing to the semi-final. 

For first-time debaters to have performed at this level against some of Hong Kong's most established school debate teams is a remarkable feat. Congratulations to Lam Yui Yi and Su Chit on this well-deserved achievement!
