Yuen Long Merchants Association Secondary School Student Represents Hong Kong in National Memorial Ceremony

 

Our Secondary 4 student, Wong Ho-ying, was one of only eight students across Hong Kong nominated by the Education Bureau to participate in the 12th Repatriation and Burial Ceremony of the Remains of Chinese Volunteer Soldiers in Korea, held in Beijing, Dandong, and Shenyang from 10 to 13 September 2025. The event has successfully concluded on 13 September, and Wong has returned to Hong Kong.

 

This solemn occasion was part of a national initiative to further implement the important message from President Xi Jinping’s letter to Hong Kong students. The Ministry of Veterans Affairs, through the Secretariat of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, invited eight youth representatives from Hong Kong to participate. The event aimed to promote patriotism, deepen national education, and cultivate a strong sense of historical awareness and national identity among young people.

 

Wong demonstrated maturity, dignity, and civic responsibility throughout the event, reflecting the values nurtured at our school. At Yuen Long Merchants Association Secondary School, we are committed to holistic education and encourage students to engage in meaningful experiences that broaden their horizons and strengthen their connection to society. Her participation stands as a testament to our educational mission and the character of our students.
