Visit to Museum of Coastal Defence and Peak Tram Ride

Date: 27/02/2023

The History Department organized a half-day tour of the Museum of Coastal Defence. The museum had been closed for 3.5 years for renovation after the serious destruction by Super Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018. Students were longed for the re-opening of the museum. The museum was designed based on an air-raid shelter used in WWII. It was well preserved and displayed a myriad of wartime equipment like forts and storage rooms for explosives and ammunition production.

The peak tram has just finished its upgrade project to the 6th generation. Students got on the new peak tram after their visit to the museum. They were given the opportunity to ride on a more than 100-year-old public transport between the commercial district in Central and the Peak.
